Year 10 students sign up for the Duke of Edinburgh’s Bronze Award

By 20 September 2019June 2nd, 2021No Comments

Following the very successful introduction of the Duke of Edinburgh’s Bronze Award programme for Year 10 students at Sharples School last year, we are now opening the programme for the new Year 10 cohort in 2019-20.

As part of the qualification, the students will be able to access a range of fantastic opportunities such as working with local charities and taking part in two camping expeditions. The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award is the world’s largest youth achievement award and gives participants the opportunity to develop skills such as independence, teamwork, community spirit and resilience. These are qualities that future employers and universities look for in a young adult and can be the key to unlock success.

Following an assembly this week, letters home and meetings for interested students, applications can be made before the deadline on Monday 30th September. Full details are on the DofE section of the school website at https://www.sharplesschool.co.uk/duke-of-edinburgh/ and if you have questions in the meantime then please email Mr Davies at i.davies@sharplesschool.co.uk .
