Dear Parent/Carer,

It gives me great pleasure to introduce myself and welcome you to our school website. My name is Ann Webster and I am very proud to be the Headteacher of Sharples School. I consider it a privilege to be a part of such a vibrant learning community and I look forward to seeing Sharples build upon its excellent reputation year on year.

Our school motto is ‘Learn Dream Achieve’. We encourage all students to work hard and to aim high in order to achieve academic success and fulfil their dreams for a rewarding future career. Our main aim is to provide first class learning and teaching opportunities every day to ensure that all of our students make significant progress from their individual starting points.

High Expectations

At Sharples, we demonstrate a daily commitment to our ‘high expectations and no excuses’ culture as we prepare our young people for the challenges of a rapidly changing world. We promote the values of resilience and hard work which has ensured that standards have risen and continue to rise every year.

We recognise that students have different abilities, needs and interests and we provide a broad and ambitious curriculum which is reviewed annually. Staff are qualified and experienced in ensuring that students achieve their full potential regardless of their starting points. We offer a wide range of GCSE choices including Engineering, Astronomy, Computer Science, Photography, separate sciences, and many more.

A Caring Community

Sharples School is a caring community that caters for students regardless of background, gender or beliefs. Through our Sharples Values of ‘Community, Co-operation, Consideration and Common sense’ we aim to engender tolerance and respect for self and others, so that students leave us well equipped to play a positive and constructive role in society.

All students are encouraged to take responsibility for their own learning and conduct. Discipline in the school is firm and fair to ensure an orderly and effective learning atmosphere. In return we expect high standards of work, behaviour and uniform. We take pride in the positive partnership we have with parents and carers. We believe that by home and school working together we can provide the very best opportunities for all our students and bring out the best in your child, both academically and socially.
