Work Experience Placements

This week saw our Year 10 students out on their Work Experience Placements with a huge variety of local and national businesses and enterprises. The students independently sourced their placements and contacted their employers before applying to complete their work experience with them. This was a fantastic way for students to develop their verbal communication (and telephone skills) as well as learn how to complete application forms and work to a deadline.

During the week, we visited and spoke to our students and asked what they had enjoyed about work experience and what they had learned;

“It’s going great! I’ve been doing lots of different things.” Lois Robinson.

“I’m having a great time – I can really see myself being here in the future.” Aisha Afzal.

“It’s been really fun – I’ve learnt a lot and I’m having a really good time!” Sam Fullerton.

All of the students thoroughly enjoyed their week placement.  It provided them with an invaluable insight into potential career options allowing them to be more focused and determined as they now get ready to move into Year 11 and sit their GCSEs.

The feedback from employers has been incredibly positive as well. Sharples School is incredibly grateful to all of our employer links for being incredibly accommodating and providing such brilliant opportunities for our pupils. They have allowed them to develop and gain skills that they will carry with them throughout their entire academic (and professional) careers.

A huge thank you also goes to Mrs Khan and Miss Amdavadi for running the entire process for Year 10. The quality of this year’s placements have been outstanding and our students are extremely lucky to have these opportunities. We would like to sincerely thank all employers for their continued support and look forward to working with you again next year.
