The DofE’s Bronze Award launched this week at Sharples

Following the awarding of our licence earlier this month (as a DofE centre) we are delighted to be launching our first Bronze Award programme for year 10 students. The DofE award is the world’s largest and most prestigious achievement award for young people and is highly regarded by employers and universities. Participants undertake extended activities involving a skill, a physical activity and volunteering in the community, plus a team expedition. The award promotes independence, resilience, team-work and community spirit…..and it’s great fun!

Mr Davies set the ball rolling with an assembly this week and over a hundred students have already expressed an interest in taking part. There will be a follow up meeting for interested students early next week and the application process will begin then.

The school website has more information at www.sharplesschool.co.uk/duke-of-edinburgh/ and if you have questions then please email Mr Davies at i.davies@sharplesschool.co.uk .
