Year 9 continued their impressive start to the season with a 7-3 win over Mount St Joseph’s to progress to the quarter final in the Bolton Cup. The game wasn’t as one sided as the score line suggests and Sharples showed excellent character to come back from 3-1 down in the second half.
Sharples took the lead through another long range effort from Harvey Hampson, chipping the keeper from 35 yards. Despite a confident start the team found themselves going into halftime 2-1 down and it looked like it wasn’t going to be Sharples day when Haruna fired the ball over from 5 yards out; the ball was last seen landing near Blackburn Road. However, Haruna made up for his miss and soon found his shooting boots hitting another 4 goals for the second successive match. Sam Johnston was a constant threat and deserved his goal whilst Ben Jackson and Yaseen Yousuf completed the scoring.
