Sports Report (Girls – Flat Bat Rounders)

Last Tuesday, the Year 9 and 10 rounders team travelled to take part in their first flat bat rounders tournament. We were put into a group which meant we’d be playing Canon Slade, Harper Green and St. James’s. Due to the rain in the morning the grass was pretty slippy but we didn’t let that deter us and ran to score points. The first game against Canon Slade we fielded first, they had some big hitters and managed a number of rounders, when we went in to bat we knew we had to get some rounders in to have a chance. Millie didn’t disappoint and scored our first rounder of the tournament. Most runners scored but we were only managing 2 or 3 due to their tight fielding. Canon Slade won the game. Harper Green were tournament winners last year and again put in a good performance but only narrowly beat us, final score 68 – 55. Our final game against St James’s went similarly and we narrowly lost the game. For our first flat bat tournament, I think the girls did extremely well and held their own in matches. We certainly didn’t look like the underdogs and played displaying the fours C’s as always. Well done girls.
