The table tennis team had their most difficult fixture of the season against Bolton and Greater Manchester Champions St James’ school. The game showed just how far the young team have come as they competed throughout and won a number of games along the way. Phil Ufoma had his best game to date as did Noah Dawson and Harvey Kenny. They continue to impress despite only being in Year 7. The experience of Sam Fullarton and Sam Hall were important to ensure the team showed resilience throughout. Next week, the squad will face Turton.

Unfortunately, the Year 10 football fixture had to be postponed on Tuesday due to the fog. Having said this, the Year 7 game managed to survive. It was by far the most difficult test of the season against a strong and confident ESSA team. Noah Dawson impressed on the wing and created Sharples best opportunities whilst Finley Westwood put in a ‘Man of the Match’ performance in defence. All the efforts weren’t enough to stop the opposition from recording a comfortable win but Sharples will look to learn from the defeat and continue to improve at training next week.
