It has been a long wait for the under thirteens to play their first cricket fixture of the season and it has been clear from recent training sessions that the team has a lot of strength in depth and potential to do very well. Sharples delivered on their promise with a convincing win over Thornleigh. Having won the toss, Sharples opted to bowl first with Ali and Senior setting the tone for the rest of the innings, immediately putting the batsmen under pressure and dismissing the opening batsmen. With Sharples in control the bowling was shared throughout the team without weakening the attack with wickets continuing to fall.
A total of forty one runs was set and Sharples cruised past the target with eight wickets remaining with Matthew Senior and Rehman Afzal top scoring without losing their wicket. Next Wednesday the team will look to build upon their impressive first performance against ESSA Academy at Eagley CC.
