Sports Report

The school cricket teams have had a number of postponements (in recent weeks) due to the poor weather. The Year 9 team have been training almost every day and had the opportunity to test their skills this week against Essa Academy.

It was fantastic to see how much they’ve improved thanks to all their hard work on the training ground. Sharples won the toss and opted to bat but stuttered at the start before finding their stride through the partnership of Shaban Anwar and Alli Fayyaz. In particular, Alli was in excellent form and stormed to an incredible 49 runs before, unfortunately, being caught out just 1 run shy of a half century.

Essa had to chase down a total of 89 and started well immediately putting runs on the scoreboard. However, Sharples tightened up their bowling and fielding but the game still went down to the last ball. Fortunately, Sharples held on and finished victorious. Next week, Year 7 and 8 will be in action travelling to Essa Academy.
