Sharples School sports day took place on Tuesday 19th July. It was an absolutely beautiful day which added to the enjoyment of this spectacular event. There were a variety of events ranging from the 100 metres, relay, to the egg and spoon and sack race.
The Year 7 boys’ competition was a close call, however 7E managed to edge ahead on points. The girls’ competition was a lot clearer with 7P taking the lead, however when scores were added together, 7E became the clear overall winners. Well done to all Year 7 participants on their first sports day at Sharples.
The winner of the boys’ Year 8 sports day was 8E, second was 8S and third 8H. Unfortunately, the girls in 8E couldn’t match the achievements of the boys and 8P were convincing winners. The most consistent form was 8P with the boys and girls both scoring highly and as a result they are the overall winners, beating 8H by just a couple of points.
For the first time in three years the Boys in 9H won their sports day, it is usually a close call between S, P and L, so well done H. The girls competition was convincingly won by 9S, who had a number of first places. However the overall winners were 9H. Again, well done to all who competed on the day.
Winning forms received their trophies during the attendance assemblies on the last day of term. Next year promises to be a bigger event with the introduction of the new house system.
