On Friday 19th May, five Year 8 pupils (and two members of staff) met up with pupils from Canon Slade and ESSA Academy to attend the Physics-X Residential held at Patterdale Hall in the Lake District. Physics-X has been an annual event held for the past 5 years, but 2017 marks the first time that Sharples have attended. The aim of the residential is to provide pupils with the opportunity to take part in adventurous activities such as climbing, canoeing and bush-craft, and learning about the Physics that makes these activities possible.

On the Saturday night, pupils were invited out onto the hills to see how the local Mountain Rescue go about their work. Being a charity organisation, everyone working for the Mountain Rescue is a volunteer and they rely on donations to keep up their vital work. To thank them for their time and efforts, we collected over £50 to donate.

The Year 8 pupils who attended all said that they had an excellent experience and made a lot of new friends from the other schools. The trip will run again next year for the current Year 7s, so keep your eyes out for information as places will fill up fast.
