Netball Update

By 11 October 2016No Comments

The girls have had a busy week playing netball. On Wednesday, the teams traveled to Kearsley Academy. It was lucky they arrived in time as Miss Paradine managed to get a little lost on route. The girls played really well as this was their first match in the league. Nervously, the girls started the game. They knew this match mattered!

As they got into it, there were some outstanding performances. Unfortunately, the Year 8s were the only team to break down Kearsley’s strong defence winning their match 8-2. Star performers from these games were Crystal Sandiford, Lois Robinson, Courtney Adamson.

A special mention needs to go to Lois as she ended up playing for the Year 10s in the second half as one of their players sustained an injury. Lois played extremely well, with the opposition choosing her as player of the match! Well done Lois!

On Thursday, Smithills school came to play against Years 7 to 9. It seemed like forever before they arrived but we were able to get in some really good practice before they did. This worked in our favour as all three teams were ready to go and played fantastically. All teams beat the opposition and received the points for the game. All teams worked really hard; some great goals were scored. It was fantastic to see some parents supporting the teams too. Star performers of these games were Sally Ratcliffe, Lois Robinson and Milli Knowles. A special mention must go to Crystal Sandiford who played for the Year 8 team in the second half. Playing against their tallest player, Crystal ensured that she couldn’t score anymore goals! This secured a Year 8 win. Well done to Crystal and the Year 8 team.
