Dear Parents/Carers,
I write to you at the end of a very successful first 2024-25 term for our school. Last week the Department for Education released the Schools Performance Tables for 2024 and we were delighted that the hard work of staff and students places Sharples in the top 2.5% of all schools. The data can be viewed at the website www.gov.uk/school-performance-tables
We have also seen an incredible amount of enrichment provided for students this term. Just in the past week we have enjoyed the Sharples Christmas Markets, when we were delighted to be joined by so many families and members of our local community, the Christmas Carol Concert took place at St Paul’s Church, and our Winter Showcase is planned for this evening with art, drama and musical talents on display from 18.00 in the school theatre.
Over 600 students made the short walk to the cinema this week for a rewards trip, all Year 7 students and their form tutors enjoyed lunch together, with speeches and dinner entertainment at the Sharples Family Meals and Year 11 students took part in the Annual Christmas ALS competition with one lucky team winning an all-expenses trip to Nando’s for lunch with Mr Savage!
One of my priorities as Headteacher this year is to increase the opportunities for parents, families and our community to work together to improve the quality of education of all our students. We held our first successful Parent Forum in November and the next meeting of the forum will take place on Wednesday 12th March 2025 at 14.15 and we hope you can join us to give your feedback and ideas.
I am sure that you will join me in thanking our staff for their hard work and dedication which has seen us accomplish so much this term.
A reminder that school closes for two weeks this Friday at 12.30pm. School buses will run as normal at this time. I wish you all a restful and peaceful Christmas holiday and we look forward to seeing students on Monday 6th January 2025 at 8.45am.
Yours Sincerely,
Caroline Molyneux
Headteacher
