Mock Election Fever at Sharples School

By 23 October 2020No Comments

Sharples students have participated in a mock election, in the run up to the American presidential election on 3rd November. Staff and students in years 7, 8 and 9 have voted in a secret ballot where they chose between the leading candidates.

Our focus has not been on debating issues or campaigning. Instead, it is about educating our young citizens in the importance of voting and in how a secret ballot works. Students have voted along with their teachers in year assemblies over the last week.

And the result? Well you heard it here first! Joe Biden won with 507 votes (88%), with Donald Trump in second with 72 votes (12%). There were 580 votes cast and 1 spoiled ballot.
