Mayoral Visit to Sharples School

By 27 April 2018June 2nd, 2021No Comments

Wednesday the 25th April was an enriching day for some Year 7 and Year 9 pupils along with the Art department. Year 7 pupils, and Mrs Patel, were honoured by a visit from the Mayor and Mayoress of Bolton.  The staff from Bolton College were also in attendance. Year 7 pupils secured 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in an Art competition run by Bolton college for the Mayor’s Ball. The Mayor said how he was really impressed by the student’s artwork. The pupils had worked in groups to create a collage based around a Caribbean theme. This competition was a chance for pupils to extend their team work skills and Sharples pupils stepped up to the challenge. There were lots of creative ideas submitted; the winning groups were invited to meet the Mayor. In total, twelve Year 7 pupils got the opportunity to spend time with the Mayor and Mayoress and found out lots of information about their roles in the community. The pupils were eager to explain how they had enjoyed spending their morning with the Mayor of Bolton. It was a pleasure to hear the wonderful compliments the Mayor, and staff from Bolton college, paid our pupils. We would like to extend our thanks to Bolton College staff for providing Sharples with this wonderful opportunity. The pupils had a memorable day.
