This week, eight Year 9 pupils had the opportunity to visit the University of Manchester and speak to professionals in different fields about how mathematics helps them. Students spoke to mathematicians who were origami professionals, material engineers, PHD students and they even modelled the maths behind the world’s highest roller coaster ride!
They took part in a variety of activities and puzzles (pictured above) throughout the day – Ameena P and Khadija N used their problem solving skills to win a prize as they found a way to use the least amount of paper to package a box. Very resourceful!
