Last Tuesday, we welcomed Bolton 6th Form College who delivered an “IT Roadshow” to a group of year 9 and 10 pupils. The aim of the session was to raise awareness of the range of options within Computing and IT available to our students post-16. The session involved hands on activities with missile firing robots (small, plastic and rubber tipped missiles!), programmable electronic circuits – built by college students – as well as a “navigate the truck” challenge. Beyond Sharples, pupils have the opportunity to follow academic or vocational pathways in our subject and this experience will hopefully help them make appropriate choices.
