On Friday 16th March, 25 Year 8 pupils went to Manchester University as part of the annual National Science Week celebrations. The pupils participated in activities led by University undergraduates and PhD students studying for scientific degrees. The first activity involved a Science fair with interesting facts ranging from cutting edge cancer treatments to using maggots for studying the effects of diseases in humans. The second activity involved code breaking techniques used in the Second World War and the final activity was a chemical engineering lecture.
The day was a fantastic opportunity to gain a taste of university life and see the many STEM related opportunities and careers on offer.
