Football Report

On Monday, Turton were hosts to both KS3 & KS4 football teams. It was a difficult fixture against very strong opposition but both teams showed resilience with Charlotte Robinson and Ridah Hassan leading by example.

The Year 7 boys entertained Mount St Joseph’s on Tuesday night. The match was played on the Astro Turf  and began with a quick pace. There was end to end action before the visitors took a 1-0 lead into half time. The second half was dominated by Sharples and, despite numerous chances, the game finished 3-1 to Mount St Joseph’s. Liam Worswick put in a ‘Man of the Match’ performance.

Year 8 were back in action against Mount St Joseph’s this week. It was an excellent turn out from the squad but, unfortunately, it wasn’t enough to take all 3 points. Serge Faye made some impressive saves in net but couldn’t save the team from defeat.

Year 11 competed in a football tournament at Hacken Lane. In 4 games Sharples won one, lost 2 (to the finalists) and drew one. David Bankole was top goal scorer and hopefully the team will be able to take their impressive performances into their quarter final against Rivington and Blackrod next week.
