This week, our Year 9 and Year 10 pupils had the opportunity to take part in the brilliant English Literature Festival hosted by Wigan and Leigh College.

On Tuesday, pupils spoke to Louise Fazackerley who provided an exclusive performance of her poetry pamphlet, “The Uniform Factory.” This was a fantastic session that allowed pupils to see the passion and compassion that lies behind Louise’s poetry.

On Wednesday, pupils spent time examining the tropes of villains in the Victorian era and discussed the key contextual factors surrounding them.

Thursday allowed pupils to speak to Professor Smith and Dr. Kingston-Reese from the University of York who explained the numerous careers a degree in English could lead to. This was a fantastic session that allowed pupils to see how English graduates are well placed to gain highly sought after jobs.

Our pupils thoroughly enjoyed all three sessions and are looking forward to the four sessions next week!
