Cricket Catch-up

Sharples cricket team were back in action this week with two fixtures in the Bolton Cup. Year 7/8 had a difficult tie against Thornleigh. It was a thrilling encounter that went down to the last bowl with the final outcome being a draw. Matthew Senior put in a superb captain’s performance, bowling well, organising the field and scoring twenty-eight runs. Sam Fullarton impressed as wicket keeper; the whole team were impressive for their first match of the season.

Year 9 travelled to Westhoughton and put in an spectacular performance in an extremely one sided game. Sharples won the toss and decided to bowl and immediately set about in taking their top order out. Westhoughton only managed to score twenty runs and were all out after three wickets from Rehman, two from Shahzeb, followed by Amin, Zainul and lastly one from Akil. Sharples strolled to the opposition’s total in no time at all!  Marcus Jackson displayed a  breathtaking performance with the bat once again.

Next week, Year 9 and 10 will be in action in the Bolton Cup with Year 9 taking on St James on Tuesday.  In addition, Year 10 will host Ladybridge at Eagley CC on Thursday.
