On another sunny day, Year 10 were back in action against Ladybridge in the quarter final of the Bolton Cup.
Sharples won the toss and opted to bowl after last week’s fantastic bowling performance. Openers Jackson and Afzal did well but struggled to take wickets. Eventually, the opposition began to stutter as Sharples disrupted their rhythm with wickets from Jackson, Afzal, Jolly and Kazi. However, this wasn’t without some excellent batting from the opposition and Ladybridge hit an impressive 104 runs!
With a huge challenge in front, Marcus Jackson took charge and put in a truly magnificent captain’s performance. Immediately he set about dispatching the opposition bowlers, hitting numerous boundaries with a fine selection of shots. Rehman supported him through the innings in which Marcus hit an astonishing 82 runs not out. He beat the total with 4 overs remaining. The team will now have a semi final to look forward to when they return after a week off.
