Pupils in the Year 8 STEM club were making a temporary plastic from milk mixed with white vinegar. The acid in the vinegar separates the casein from the milk and it is this which lumps together to form the plastic. We discussed how we might improve the strength of the plastic by varying the ratio of milk to vinegar and considering alternative ingredients.
