On Wednesday 2nd December, a group of Year 11 students attended an online Codebreaking and Cryptography event, led by Dr Katie Chicot of the Open University and organised by the Advanced Mathematics Support Programme. The interactive session involved breaking ancient and modern codes (see pictures). Students put their mathematical skills and problem-solving abilities to the test, competing against those from schools across the North West. Students were also presented with information about the ancient science and art of cryptography, the relevance to mathematics today, and about mathematics careers and study post-16. A special mention to Alam Mohmed who finished 4th on the leaderboard.
