The start of a new academic year is always very busy but incredibly rewarding. This week we have welcomed back our existing pupils after their long summer break as well as inducting our new Year 7‘s into the Sharples Family.
During this first week we have taken the opportunity to share the news that this has been another excellent year for Sharples’ GCSE students. The 2017 results continue our positive trend of year on year improvement. Achievement in the core subjects was very impressive with 71% of our students achieving 9–4 in Maths and 79% in English; 67% achieved 9-4 in both subjects. We are also delighted that our long established tradition of scientific excellence continues with another first-class set of science outcomes.
The highlight of my week has been the Year 7 Tie Ceremony when our new pupils were formally welcomed into the school. I was incredibly proud to present each of our Year 7’s with their new school tie which officially marked their entry into the Sharples community.
The Tie Ceremony is also a great opportunity to welcome families and guests into the school to share in this special occasion. Feedback from parents about the Tie Ceremony has been very positive and it is an event which we will look forward to celebrating again next year.
Feedback from our Year 7 parents:
“We made a great decision in sending our daughter to Sharples. The Tie Ceremony was very different to other schools and a lovely welcome.”
“The Tie Ceremony was good, we were treated very kindly at school. Very welcoming and pleasant atmosphere.”
“Loved it! In my opinion, if someone wants to achieve something, they can do it at Sharples.”
