Upcoming Events Update from the Headteacher

By 24 November 2025No Comments

Dear Parent/Carer,

I am writing to update parents on some important dates for your diary in the coming weeks.

Diversity Day 2025

This Friday 28th November is our annual Diversity Day, when students are invited to dress in traditional costume that represents their heritage and culture.  At lunchtime, there will be stalls selling a variety of world foods, drinks and crafts with all proceeds going to the charity Oxfam.

Voucher books can be purchased via MCAS for £5 which provide 10 x 50p vouchers for students to spend at the stalls. Vouchers will be delivered to students in their forms.

Stalls will also accept cash on the day.  If you would like to donate bakes or savouries for sale on the day, please send them in to Hill Cot House reception on the morning of Friday 28th November.

The Sharples Christmas Markets

On Friday 12th December we open our doors for the Sharples Christmas Markets from 15.15-17.30. All students, parents, families and friends of the school are very welcome to attend. There will be a wide variety of stalls selling food, drink and gifts. The money raised will go to future improvements to our school.

Festive Bingo

Our International Team are running a Festive Bingo evening on Wednesday 17th December 18.00-20.00.  Prizes include 40 inch TV and Echo dot and all proceeds go to international projects for our students at Sharples. Refreshments and snacks will be available.

Winter Concert

Our end of term showcase of music, drama and performance will be held on Thursday 18th December at 7pm. Many of our GCSE students will be performing pieces from their course. Tickets are £3 for adults, £1 for children and they can be purchased via MCAS.

Upcoming Training Days

On Friday 5th December, school will be closed to students  in line with the school calendar for our staff Training Day.

We also now have a Training Day for Monday 5th January 2026 when the school will be closed to students. The school will therefore reopen to students for the new term on Tuesday 6th January 2026 at 8.40am.

Finally, all students with 100% attendance from today until the end of term, will be entered into our end of term prize draw with some fantastic prizes. Please encourage your child to aim for 100% attendance over the next 4 weeks.

We hope that you can support our events in the coming weeks. We would love to see as many families as possible getting involved with the wealth of activities at Sharples.

Yours sincerely

Ms C Molyneux
