On Thursday of last week, staff at Sharples were treated to a Teaching and Learning extravaganza!
The purpose of the evening was to share good practice in relation to our Teaching and Learning Communities. Throughout this academic year, all of the staff at Sharples have been part of different communities such as:
Stretch and Challenge – led by Mrs Denning;
Disadvantaged – led by Mr Callaghan;
Differentiation – led by Mrs Paradine;
Key Skills – led by Mrs Khan;
Research – led by Miss Dann.
Each group had to deliver a short presentation to one another reflecting on their experiences within their communities.
Following on from the presentations, staff enjoyed a buffet provided by Mellors.
In addition to this, we also had a guest speaker who came all the way from London. Katherine Birbalsingh, headteacher of the Michaela Community School, also presented to staff. After this, there was even time for a question and answer session. Many of our staff thought that the session was both informative and insightful.
Finally, as a token of appreciation, we ended the evening with a staff raffle. Many of our staff left with an array of prizes!
A special thanks goes to Katherine Birbalsingh and to all of the local businesses who donated prizes.
