Start of Summer Term 2 Letter

Dear Parent/Carer,

Welcome back to the final half term of 2024-25.  Time seems to fly at Sharples, as a result of the many events and activities that our students engage with, and the next 7 weeks are no exception!  Year 11 are over half way through their GCSE examinations and are working extremely hard. Year 10 have begun revising for their first mock examination series and preparations are underway for our end of year rewards events, Sports Day, our Academic Achievement Assemblies and more.

Many of our families will be celebrating Eid later this week, and we will like to extend our warmest wishes to you all for this special day.  Those students who celebrate Eid will be granted one day of absence authorised to spend time with families. Please note that the school day will be as normal for all other students. There is an English Language GCSE at 9am that ALL Year 11 students should attend. There is no special consideration given by exam boards, for any student missing this examination.

A reminder that from September 2025 there are some changes to our uniform policy.  Students choosing to wear a headscarf will be required to wear the Sharples branded item which is available now via MCAS at £8 or from the usual uniform stockists.  Also from September, girls wearing skirts will be required to wear opaque, black tights.  We do have a pre-loved uniform shop which is available at all parent events in school.  As we come to the end of the academic year, if you have any uniform which your child no longer requires, donations are always welcome. Please send items to Miss Curzon in school.

If you have not yet signed up for the next Parent Forum, this will be held on Wednesday 11th June 2.15-3.15pm and the theme this term is “Support for Parents – what is available?”. The forum is a great opportunity to find out more about us, and to share your views to help us to improve our school. Please email admin-support@sharplesschool.co.uk to confirm your attendance.

Finally, I am delighted to inform you that we will be holding a Summer Fayre at Sharples on Friday 4th July 3.15-5.30pm organised by the Sharples Parent Teacher Association. There will be gift stalls, raffles, food and more. Everyone is welcome and we encourage families with children of all ages to come along and enjoy the event.

Thank you, as always, for your continued support in upholding the standards and values of Sharples School.

Yours sincerely,

Ms C Molyneux
