Sports Report (Netball)

On Tuesday, the Year 9 netball team travelled to Bolton School to take part in the annual Bolton Schools Netball Tournament. The weather was kind to us as the rain managed to hold off throughout the event. 14 schools took part in the tournament and we were placed in group B. This meant our opposition was Little Lever, Thornleigh, Harper Green, BSCA, and Canon Slade. There were some great performances during each of the matches and the girls performed particularly well against Little Lever winning 4-0. In addition to this, they beat Harper Green 8-0. However, the most convincing win was against BSCA where the girls won 12-0! The other two games were really tight losing 5-2 against Canon Slade and 8-4 against Thornleigh. Both of these schools made it through to the semi finals. Bolton School went on to win the tournament. As always, Sharples students represented the school in a positive manner and they tried their best throughout the tournament. Well done to everyone who took part. The ‘Player of the Tournament’ went to Leah Jackson who scored some fantastic goals! A special mention has to go to Cherie who stepped up and played two years above her age group and did a fantastic job working in attack with Leah. She also scored some great goals. Well done girls – what a great tournament!
