There’s an exciting competition coming up in February for our year 7 and 8 girls as Sharples have entered the Bolton U13s handball tournament. Listen out for more details as training sessions will be held in preparation for the event.

In addition to this, there is also a gymnastics competition in February and training has now started every Tuesday so make sure you don’t miss out.

The year 9 football team looked to continue their impressive start in the league when they travelled to Essa on Tuesday night. On a wet and windy evening, Sharples started the game poorly and soon found themselves 2 goals behind. Despite the initial set back, ‘Man of the Match’, Will Scarbrough got a goal back and then Matthew Senior levelled at the stroke of half time. Sharples went into the second half with confidence but squandered a couple of chances. Sloppy defending allowed Essa to run away with the game. Muzzamil Kathrada looped the ball over the advancing keeper with the last kick of the game but this was only to be a consolation after a disappointing performance.

Unfortunately, Thornleigh had to postpone the table tennis this week but the team will be in action next Wednesday when they travel to Rivington. Also, a reminder for those selected to compete in the Salford 100 in December, training is every Monday and Wednesday.
