Sports Day 2021

It is just over a week since the return of the biggest sporting event of the calendar year – Sports Day! An awful lot of planning went into the day to ensure it was bigger and better than previous years as our students have been deprived of so much over the last 18 months. Every year group had the opportunity to take part in the 16 events on offer throughout the day, ranging from inter-form football & rounders to racing on our two 82ft Inflatable Assault Courses!

The vision of Sports Day was to focus on mass participation, something which we believe we achieved with great success. It was touching to see students’ enjoying themselves and engaging in numerous activities with their peers and teachers throughout the day after what has been challenging circumstances for all. Thankfully the unpredictable British weather was on our side with glorious sunshine to enhance the day!

With 16 activities on offer it only demonstrated once again how fortunate we are at Sharples to facilitate these events with just under 1,000 students taking part.

Special thanks must go to our fantastic members of staff that offered their time and participated in the activities with some fantastic images and videos on Twitter, some of which are included in this article!

We would also like to finish by thanking Mr Parkinson for the countless hours of time and effort spent planning and preparing to ensure Sports Day would be the reward fitting of what our students thoroughly deserved.
