Sharples Baccalaureate

By 9 December 2021No Comments

It has been brilliant to see the number of Year 7 students enjoying the selection of clubs that have been on offer this term at Sharples. Over 30 clubs have been available to Year 7 including, STEM club, fashion design club, chess club, Star Wars club, Christmas cooking club, and dance club to name a few! Each time a student attended a club, they received a point that contributed towards their Sharples Baccalaureate award. To gain a Bronze award, students needed 10 Bacc points, 15 points were needed for Silver and 20 points were needed for Gold! Commitment and attendance at clubs has been excellent over the last couple of months and this was evident in Wednesday’s assembly when 78 students were awarded their Gold certificate and badge. Along with the Gold winners, 30 students received their Silver award with 40 pupils awarded Bronze. This is a fantastic achievement for all involved and we hope the momentum from this term carries over into the new year when a whole new selection of clubs will be on offer!

Aaisha Patel (7H) spoke of her Sharples Bacc experience over the last few months: “The Sharples Bacc has made me learn not just new things but also about myself. I have enjoyed many clubs like Debate club, Astronomy club and International club. I never thought I would enjoy clubs like these but it has made me step out of my comfort zone and try new things. If there aren’t many clubs that you enjoy you can create your own. It gives you a chance to show your creativity and interests. The Sharples Bacc is also a great opportunity to make new friends but also to make a bond with your teachers”.
