Revision plays a vital role in preparing students for these assessments. It provides an opportunity to revisit and consolidate learning from across the curriculum, helping students to reflect on what they already know and understand, as well as identify areas where their knowledge is less secure. By recognising these gaps, students can focus their revision more effectively, strengthening their understanding and building confidence ahead of the assessments.

To support your revision, take a look at our Sharples Revision Toolkit. This contains all the advice to supercharge your revision skills and give yourself the best opportunity to achieve!

Year 9 Summative Assessments:

The Year 9 Summative Assessments will take place during the period Monday 12th January 2026 to Friday 30th January 2026.

These assessments form an important part of your child’s academic journey. They provide a valuable opportunity for students to demonstrate their knowledge and understanding across the curriculum as they approach the point of selecting their GCSE options later in the spring term. The results will help teachers to identify strengths and areas for development, and they will also support students in making informed decisions about their future subjects.

There will be two assessments per day, with one taking place in the morning and one in the afternoon. Please refer to the table below for the full assessment schedule.

As with all assessments, it is essential that students revise and prepare thoroughly. To support this, a range of revision resources is available on the student shared drive: https://drive.google.com/drive/shared-drives. We encourage all students to start their preparation early and make full use of these materials to build confidence and feel well prepared.

In addition, students can access the subject-specific Revision Shorts, which provide clear guidance for each summative assessment: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1OzHXvdrPwPUF8mgUQrgZWWLjsC3G-Zn9

Thank you for your continued support.

Yours sincerely,

Sam Jackson
