Netball Update

By 6 October 2017No Comments

Our Netball fixture this week was against St.Catherine’s. We were excited as this was our first away fixture of the season, so we were changed quickly and ready to set off promptly to travel the relatively short journey to the oppositions school. We arrived and sent Mr Myerscough in to check where the courts were…he returned quickly…laughing…the opposition had travelled to Sharples. Dismayed, Miss Paradine quickly rang the other teacher who – just as quickly – took all responsibility for the mix up and apologised. So…we travelled back to school to play the fixture. Our year 7 team played inside while our year 8 and 9 team played outside. The year 7 team played really well, with the teacher from St. Catherine’s commenting on how well they played. They easily won their match 6-1 with Leah Johnston receiving ‘Player of the Match’ – well done year 7. The year 8 team didn’t do as well and their match ended with a 2-0 loss. Well done to Freya Swailes who played centre and was also entitled ‘Played of the Match’. The year 9 team struggled to field a full team this week so were a couple of players down, however those that did play put in a strong performance. Crystal Sandiford (from year 8) played up for them and also received ‘Player of the Match’. This is a fantastic achievement as she was playing against girls a year older than her. Their match also ended in a 2-0 loss.

Thank you to Miss Green, who came out to support the teams. Well done girls! Next week, we have training and a fixture against Rivington to prepare for.
