National Careers Week

This week was National Careers Week and here at Sharples we celebrated all things careers with a range of virtual events!

The week kicked off with an assembly from Mrs Banner, our in-house Careers Adviser explaining her role and offering advice on what to think about when career planning and sharing lots of useful resources to help explore the exciting opportunities available.

Students were encouraged through form activities to talk about careers, the skills they are developing and how these can be used in their future plans.

A range of useful resources and websites were shared with them to help them.

Across our curriculum, subject departments explored which careers linked to their subject and also the wide range of skills that are developed in each one. Communication, Analysis and Evaluation, Teamwork to name a few.

Our English root of the week was Careers related exploring careers terms and their origins.

On Wednesday we hosted a virtual Careers & Coffee session with a Process Engineer. Our guest speaker spoke to the students about his role, the projects he has created, his route into engineering and much more!

As part of World Book Day on Thursday, we shone a spotlight on Careers relating to English, a love of reading and the range of transferable skills that it provides. Miss Ayub created an amazing resource for students looking at all the careers that are involved in producing a book.

A huge thank you to all staff and students who took part and made the week such a success and a great experience! Here’s to National Careers Week 2022!
