Dear Parents and Carers,
As we approach the end of what has been another remarkable term and a very successful 2024-25 at Sharples School, I wanted to take this opportunity to reflect on our students’ achievements and share some important information with you.
This term has been filled with outstanding moments that truly demonstrate our school values in action. Our students have consistently shown ambition, resilience, and dedication across all areas of school life. From excellent progress in their academic studies to participation in our enrichment programme, I am incredibly proud of what our students have accomplished.
The dedication shown by both staff and students in preparing for the GCSE exams has been exemplary and Year 10 have recently completed their first formal mock examinations successfully. We are looking forward to our Academic Achievement Assemblies on Monday 14th and Tuesday 15th July, when we will celebrate the academic successes of students across all year groups. Parents are invited to watch the events via Zoom you should’ve received information regarding this separately.
Our diverse community has thrived through so many opportunities including Forest School activities, Alton Towers reward trip, visits from our French and Spanish pen pals, the Duke of Edinburgh Programme, and participation in our extensive enrichment programme of clubs. These experiences are helping our students develop personally and preparing them brilliantly for their next steps.
As we move into next year we will continue our relentless drive to improve in all areas and as always, we ask parents for their support. Research consistently shows the positive impact of parental engagement on student outcomes. During the holiday period, I encourage you to:
• Maintain Reading Habits: Continue to encourage daily reading – this makes a significant difference to academic progress.
• Celebrate Achievements: Take time to discuss and celebrate your child’s successes from this term
• Stay Connected: Use this time to have positive conversations with your child about learning and future aspirations.
Important Reminders
Uniform: There are some changes to our uniform policy for September 2025 as previously communicated. Please check our website for further details and to ensure that your child has the correct uniform when we return in September.
End of Term: Term ends at 12.30pm on Friday 18th July and the school buses will run at this time. Friday 18th June will be a non-uniform day for staff and students.
Thank you for your continued support and partnership. Together, we are fostering a safe, happy and aspirational community where every student can thrive and fulfil their potential. Your support at home makes an enormous difference to your child’s progress and wellbeing.
I wish you and your families a restful and enjoyable holiday period. We look forward to welcoming our students back, ready for another year of going above and beyond to provide wide, rich opportunities for their development.
School opens for 2025-26:
