Dear Parent/Carer,
As we reach the end of another half term at Sharples, I would firstly like to congratulate our Year 11 students on a fantastic start to their formal GCSE examinations. A tremendous amount of hard work has gone into preparing them for this important and challenging period and the students are focused and continuing to take every opportunity given to them to maximise their success. They are a credit to Sharples, and we would like to thank you for your ongoing support. This afternoon we enjoyed the “Half-Way BBQ” with them as a treat to reward their efforts so far.
When the Year 11 GCSEs come to an end, it will be the turn of Year 10 to step up as they take their first Pre-Public Examinations (PPEs) from Monday 16th June to Friday 4th July. Revision has already begun, and all subjects have provided students with revision lists and resources.
Over the past few weeks our Year 9 and Year 10 students have started the final leg of their journey towards achieving the Duke of Edinburgh bronze and silver awards. The feedback regarding their expeditions has been amazing and almost 100 students will receive their coveted awards in the Autumn. We have also announced the details of our end of term Reward Trip, this year to Alton Towers and further information regarding this can be found on MCAS for those who have qualified for the trip.
A reminder that we are always keen to receive feedback from our families to help us to improve our school. Our next Parent Forum will take place on Wednesday 11th June at 14.15 and will focus on “Support for Parents”, highlighting what is available for families both in school and externally. If you would like to join us, please email admin-support@sharplesschool.co.uk. Everyone is welcome.
Finally I would like to remind all parents of our very high uniform, attendance and punctuality expectations. A small number of students are regularly late for school and are therefore missing vital learning opportunities and information given during form time. Please check your child’s record using MCAS so that you can support your child to strive for excellent attendance and punctuality.
Have a lovely half term and we will see students at 8.40am on Monday 2nd June.
Yours sincerely
Ms C Molyneux
