‘Girls taking Maths further’ event

By 26 April 2018June 2nd, 2021No Comments

This week, approximately 30 high-ability girls (in Maths) attended two careers-related presentations. Mr Keighley explained how girls were currently under-represented in STEM-related careers and outlined the many benefits of studying the subject at A-Level and beyond. He was followed by Helen Chandler who is a lecturer in Maths at Bury College. The main point of her presentation was to outline typical course content at AS/A-level and to see how well the subject complements other academic subjects. After the event, the students filled in a questionnaire and the majority indicated they were either definitely going to take the subject at A-Level or were considering doing so.
