This week we were visited by two of Miss Molyneux’s former students to talk to our Year 11 cohort about the genetic disease Cystic Fibrosis. Ryan and Katie Johnstone were still at school studying for their GCSEs when their older brother had a son Jack, with CF (Cystic Fibrosis). They spoke of their family’s story, finding out whether or not they were also ‘carriers’, and the battle that Jack has been through with the disease which includes a double lung transplant. Year 11 are studying the disease as part of their GCSE Science course and were keen to ask questions about its inheritance. We’d like to give a huge thanks to Katie and Ryan for taking the time out to visit us.
