On Wednesday, four Year 8 pupils travelled to the University of Manchester to take part in Salters’ Festival of Chemistry. They competed against other schools from the North West in two activities. The activities required the pupils to work together, utilising their problem-solving and practical skills. Firstly, they had to identify a criminal using chromatography. In addition to this, they had to create a ‘chemical stopclock’ which would last exactly one minute. The activities were followed by an excellent ‘Science Show’ which was enjoyed by all who attended. Thanks to both Salters and the University of Manchester for hosting the event.
