Year 9

Liza Saiyad, Ayesha Policewala and Mustafa Patel have written a fantastic poem to cover the plot of Othello.

Othello

At the start of Othello,
Roderigo and Iago,
Came up with a plan,
They called Brabantio and his clan,
To tell him about the man,
The one they called him moor,
They said he was a whore,
He ran away with his daughter,
That brought Brabantio to his slaughter,
They all went to meet,
Brabantio took a seat,
Othello told his love story,
How Desdemona fell for his glory,
Desdemona did agree,
That they got married under a tree,
Brabantio getting furious,
Instead of getting curious,
He left the site,
And to Othello’s delight,
The duke showed them a sight,
They needed Othello tonight.

They prepared for war,
That is quite afar,
They ended up winning,
Iago’s plan was just beginning,
Cassio was drunk,
He acted like a punk,
Cassio was fired,
Iago was now hired,
Iago started to manipulate,
He filled Othello’s head with hate,
Everyone was now in Iago’s plate.

Othello fell into Iago’s trap,
Now Othello and Cassio were back to back,
Cassio went to Othello’s wife,
And told her about his situation in life,
Desdemona agreed to talk,
She pleaded him from light to dark,
He began to suspect her,
In order to protect her,
And to save their marriage,
From Cassio who was seen as a savage.

Desdemona he started to strangle,
He hated this love triangle,
Desdemona died,
Iago was filled with pride,
Othello killed his bride,
Roderigo left Iago’s side,
Othello ended with a dead bride.
