End of Autumn Term Letter

By 18 December 2025No Comments

Dear Parents/Carers,

I write to you at the end of an incredibly busy and successful Autumn Term 2025-26.

As always, our focus has been high quality teaching and learning every single day, and our attention to this leads to outstanding outcomes at the end of Year 11 that open doors for our young people for the rest of their lives. From January we are seeking to further improve our classroom learning, through consolidating learning routines and ensuring that we maximise lesson time for all students. We look forward to sharing updates on our work in the coming months.

One of my priorities since I became Headteacher has been to improve parental engagement with our school, as your support is vital to successful outcomes for your children. I am delighted to announce that just this week, we have been awarded the Leading Parent Partnership Award, which recognises outstanding engagement with all groups of parents. Achieving this accolade is testament to the hard work of our team, which has included establishing a thriving PTA and holding regular Parent Forum meetings for our families to provide support and feedback to the school.

We have also seen an incredible amount of enrichment provided for students this term. We have attended workshops and lectures at The University of Liverpool, Bolton School, Runshaw College, and Bolton Wanderers Stadium. We have enjoyed curriculum linked trips to Bletchley Park with Computing, Liverpool Cathedrals and Mosque with RS, Price Waterhouse Cooper Accountants with Maths, The Glasshouse Bakery with Food Technology and many more. We are committed to enriching the learning of all our students at Sharples.

Our Diversity Day in November raised over £2000 for the charity Oxfam, we have donated over 50 shoeboxes packed with toys and gifts to the Rotary Appeal for children who may not receive gifts this Christmas and our Christmas Markets last week raised vital funds to support the work of the school, including the library refurbishment and I am sure that you will join me in thanking our staff for their hard work and dedication which has seen us accomplish so much this term.

A reminder that school closes for two weeks this Friday at 12.30pm. School buses will run as normal at this time.   Monday 5th January is a staff training day and the school is closed to students.  We look forward to welcoming students back to school on Tuesday 6th January 2025 at 8.45am.

I wish you all a restful and peaceful Christmas holiday

Yours Sincerely,

Caroline Molyneux
