DofE Award Bronze Training Walk

By 25 May 2021June 2nd, 2021No Comments

On Saturday 22nd May, it was the Year 9 training walk for our Bronze DofE Award students. It was a grey and drizzly morning, but all of our students made it bright and early to start the walk!

As the students set off following three separate routes around the local area, accompanied by the fantastic teachers that volunteered their Saturday morning, the rain finally cleared and spirits were high.

The students did an excellent job of map reading and navigation, which will really help them on their expedition next month. Although there were some wrong turns, our groups worked together to get back on track and finish the routes with a smile.

Some of the routes were really muddy underfoot, and there was a great show of teamwork to make sure everyone made it down the slopes safely and (reasonably) dry.

A great morning was had by all, with some useful skills learned along the way!

A huge thank you to Mr Davies for helping to organise, and to Mr McCann, Miss Dudley, Mr Grundy, Ms N Patel, Mr Brade, Ms Finney and Ms Curzon for volunteering their time.
