Revising…with a Difference

By 2 May 2018June 2nd, 2021No Comments

Last weekend, 12 boys spent Saturday and Sunday revising…with a difference! On Saturday the venue was the iconic Beetham Tower, home to the Hilton Hotel Manchester. The boys, who were chosen as they needed a boost in their basics (English and Maths GCSEs) boarded the Sharples Minibus at 9am and travelled to Manchester to be met by Miss Dann in the Hilton Boardroom. The group took part in several hours of revision for their English Literature examination, learning quotes and practising essay writing skills.

At 2pm, they had earned a well-deserved treat and the group made their way up to the 23rd floor of the hotel to the swanky Cloud 23 lounge. As they reached the dizzy heights of the 23rd floor, they enjoyed food and mocktails.

On Sunday, it was the turn of Miss Denning to work with the group on Pythagoras and Trigonometry. The setting for this session was the home of Bolton Wanderers and a suite overlooking the pitch. The boys worked solidly for 4 hours, only stopping for fish and chips for lunch!

The boys not only took part in some focused, high quality revision but they also enjoyed some unforgettable experiences at these legendary venues.

We would like to thank the Hilton Manchester Deansgate and Bolton Whites Hotel for hosting and looking after us and GM Higher for funding this amazing experience for our students!
