G2G History Guest Speaker

This week, the History department hosted a guest speaker (Freddie Naftal) who came into school to talk to our G2G pupils in Year 8 and Year 9 about the Holocaust.

Mr Naftal’s family were directly involved in the Holocaust and his parents emigrated to England before the start of WWII to flee the growing terror under the Nazi regime. His Grandparents, Auntie and Uncle were not so lucky and were persecuted by the Nazis.
Freddie shared his family’s story with our pupils and gave them an overview of how Jews, and other minorities were treated throughout the Holocaust.

He then went on to talk about Antisemitism today and how we should not stand for any form of racism in our community – something which our pupils wholeheartedly agreed with.

It was a very intense and thought provoking session for our pupils and one that I am certain they will never forget their experience.
They left the room with a lot to think about and consider, and I look forward to seeing how the experience has enriched their learning when we start our studies of the Holocaust in the coming weeks.
