On Monday, Year 7 welcomed a very strong opponent in Turton for their first round Bolton cup match. The game was goalless at half time and this was the case for the second half until a goal mouth scramble – backed by the wind – allowed Turton to poach a single goal, helping them to a 1 nil win. Sharples performed excellently and should be very proud. A special mention goes to Mason for his goalkeeping contributions including a fine penalty save and also to Muhammed for his defensive work.

Year 9 continued their unbeaten run with a 4-3 win over Ladybridge in the Bolton Cup.

It was a thrilling encounter that Sharples dominated but nearly paid the ultimate price for failing to take their chances. Three times Ladybridge levelled the score after goals from Senior, Abdifatah and Senior again but Sam Fullarton secured Sharples place in the next round after curling in a free kick to the bottom corner.

Year 8 Bolton Cup game had to be unfortunately postponed on Thursday. The game will be played on the first Wednesday back after half term. Year 10 will also be in action at Canon Slade the day before.
