Sharples’ badminton team looked to bounce back from their heavy defeat to Harper Green last week with an away trip to Canon Slade. Kevin Worsley made his debut and the team called upon the experience of Tom Egan (Year 11). It was a much improved performance with Sharples winning a number of games. Tom Egan and Cameron Jones won the most number of games as a pair, with Matthew Senior and Marcus Jackson not far behind.
Despite the football winter break, Sharples arranged a Year 10 game against Little Lever. Once again, it was a full turn out from the squad, showing excellent commitment. It was a freezing cold night and Sharples took a while to get going. Despite some impressive football played at times, Sharples couldn’t avoid another defeat. Nathan Hill nearly scored the goal of the season, firing narrowly over from outside the box and Connor Dagger put in a ‘Man of the Match’ performance in defence.
