Unfortunately, the under 13s cricket fixture succumbed to the terrible downpour on Wednesday. The game is now rearranged for the week after next.
The weather was a lot kinder the following day at the Bolton Year 7 and 8 athletics championships. It was a first experience for many of our students and all did themselves proud with Sharples exceeding expectations against many club athletes. On a day when all pupils performed admirably, there were a few stand-out performances that deserve special mention. Lois Robinson and Tyler Jones both made the final in the 200m and Rehman Afzal came 4th out of 16 in the 1500m. Jessica Elsick also achieved a bronze medal in the javelin on her debut performance. However, the performance of the day was by Natasha Robinson who made the final in 100m and then achieved first place in the shot putt and narrowly missed out on the town record with a throw of over 8 meters.
