A selection of the Year 7 team competed in a Bolton futsal competition this week.

Sharples were straight into action and recorded the biggest win of the tournament in their first match against Eden Boys with an emphatic 5-1 win. Harvey Hampson scored a hat trick and Grace Grundy got a brace. Next up was Thornleigh and the team put in a solid performance with Oscar keeping a clean sheet and Harvey and Ben Jackson securing a 2-0 win. The final game of the group against Canon Slade was the decider to determine who would progress through to the final. Sharples only needed a draw to go through to the next stage but found themselves 1-0 down with 30 seconds to go. However, in dramatic fashion Harvey Hampson levelled the score meaning that Sharples went through to the final. The final was a close encounter but Sharples were narrowly edged out 2-1 against another Canon Slade team. It really was a magnificent team performance that all players should be very proud of.

Well done to Harvey Stigwood, Hayden Brooks, Lauren Heyes and Yasmin Walker from Year 10 who attended a Sports Leaders Academy, hosted by Bolton’s School Games Organisers. The afternoon was spent receiving training on leadership skills such as communication and organisation. They then went on to deliver a multi sports competition to Year 3 and 4 pupils. Have a look on Twitter for pictures of our Sports Leaders, who received emails from a number of primaries commenting on how well the students represented our school and put their new learnt skills into practice.
