Dear Parent/Carer
As government guidance is changing regularly, we are continuing to carefully monitor the coronavirus situation and follow any advice and guidance we can access daily. The latest government guidelines are:
- Children should stay at home if they are unwell with a new, continuous cough or a high temperature for 14 days
- If a member of the household is unwell with a new, continuous cough or a high temperature, all others in the household should self-isolate for 14 days
We have had a growing number of staff notifying us that they are self-isolating. This has reduced our staffing capacity significantly. We are following government guidelines in trying to keep the school open but, as expected, it is becoming increasingly more difficult to do this.
As a result of this, I have taken the decision that, from Thursday, 19 March 2020, the school will remain open only for Years 10 and 11 students until Easter as those staff affected will be self-isolating for 14 days.
For students in Years 7, 8 and 9, staff will be sharing learning resources using “Show My Homework” and, where possible, hard copies of work packs are also being made available.
Please do not hesitate to contact the school if you require any further guidance. We will update you regularly as the current situation develops using the school website and “School Gateway”.
Thank you, as always, for your ongoing support for Sharples School
Yours sincerely
Ms A Webster
Headteacher
